Commissioning and Operations Management
GeoFlow Energy provides end-to-end engineering support during the commissioning and operation phases of renewable energy power plants, ensuring that the facility operates safely, efficiently, and continuously. Since this is the critical period where the true performance of a power plant is realized, all tests, measurements, technical analyses, and operational strategies are carried out meticulously by our expert team.
1. Commissioning Management
During commissioning, GeoFlow’s primary goal is to ensure the plant operates at full performance according to design and contract specifications. Services include:
-
Pre-checks of all mechanical and electrical systems
-
Verification of I/O tests, functional tests, and safety integrations
-
Individual testing of turbines, generators, inverters, switchgear, and control systems
-
Execution of operating scenarios for hydromechanical and electromechanical equipment
-
Inspection of water intake structures, diversion, penstocks, reservoirs, and tailrace
-
Management of initial energization
-
Execution of parallel operation / grid connection tests
-
Performance tests (guaranteed production values, efficiency, and losses)
-
Preparation of technical reports for provisional acceptance
-
Verification of contractor-submitted test results on behalf of the investor
Outcome: The plant operates safely, predictably, and in line with design specifications.
2. Operation and Acceptance Processes
After commissioning, GeoFlow:
-
Prepares provisional acceptance documents
-
Manages official notifications to relevant authorities
-
Oversees performance verification with contractors
-
Organizes technical training for operations personnel
-
Completes all measurements and checks for final acceptance
This phase marks the official handover of the plant to the investor and the verification of performance obligations.
3. Operations Management
The operational performance of a power plant directly determines the economic return of the investment. GeoFlow Energy provides long-term technical management during the operation phase:
-
Plant production performance monitoring (separate analyses for HPP, WPP, and PV)
-
Reactive power, harmonics, and voltage quality measurements
-
Preparation of daily, monthly, and annual operation reports
-
Fault detection, root cause analysis (RCA), and preventive maintenance strategies
-
Optimization of energy monitoring systems (SCADA, automation, data analytics)
-
Preparation and implementation of annual maintenance plans
-
Condition monitoring of critical equipment (vibration, thermal imaging, oil analysis, etc.)
-
Inventory, spare parts, and consumables management
-
Compliance with occupational health and safety standards
-
Efficiency analyses to minimize production losses
This management model ensures both technical and economic sustainability during operations.
4. Energy Sales and Market Management (EPİAŞ Processes)
Operational success is determined not only by technical performance but also by energy market strategies. GeoFlow provides:
-
Preparation of day-ahead market (DAM) and balancing power market bids
-
Analysis of spot market prices
-
Risk management (volatility, margin, production forecasting)
-
Advisory on derivatives and bilateral agreements
-
Production forecasting (Hydro, Wind, Solar)
-
EPİAŞ data analysis and optimization
-
Management of production–sales balance
-
Carbon market strategies
Goal: To maximize revenue by selling generated electricity in the most profitable market.
